Driver Monitoring for Fatigue and Distraction

Distar’s DMS offering uses a driver-facing camera to detect fatigue and distraction and provide audible and visual driver alerts.

  • Driver-facing monitoring, separate from forward-road ADAS
  • Audible and visual alerts for driver attention
  • Camera position selected around the driver’s normal seating position

Camera Views and Blind-Spot Detection

Distar offers camera-monitor products for blind-zone visibility and BSD systems for automatic detection and driver alerts.

  • Target categories can include cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians
  • Monitoring areas can include left-side, right-side and rear blind spots, as well as lane-change danger zones
  • Target categories and monitored areas depend on the selected BSD system and configuration

FAQ

Choosing Your Driver Safety System

Answers for fleet buyers, system integrators and OEM/ODM teams.

What can I buy as part of a Driver Safety project?

Distar provides camera and monitor products, DMS, road-facing ADAS, BSD and mobile video recorders. You can start with a visibility setup or select detection, alerts and recording around the project’s needs. Hardware selection and platform services form separate parts of the configuration.

Does a camera-monitor system also detect hazards?

A standard camera-monitor setup displays the area in view. Automatic detection and alerts require a DMS, ADAS or BSD product with those functions. A multi-camera or split-screen display describes the viewing layout; it does not by itself provide a stitched bird’s-eye view.

Which modules are suitable for special vehicles or mobile equipment?

Distar serves commercial vehicles, special vehicles and special-purpose mobile equipment. Module suitability depends on the working task, vehicle layout and operating environment. Road-facing ADAS is intended for road-vehicle applications; it should not be assumed suitable for every off-road machine.

What is the difference between video recording and event recording?

Continuous recording retains footage over the recording period. Event recording responds to an event input or trigger supported by the recorder. A detection alert, a saved video clip and an event record are separate outputs, so the required recording workflow should be included in the system configuration.

Can I use Distar’s GPS & MDVR platform for fleet review?

Yes. Distar’s own GPS & MDVR platform supports live view, playback, alerts and reports, with API and private deployment options. The system recommendation identifies the device connection and the video, audio and event information available to fleet users.

What should I send for a product recommendation or OEM/ODM enquiry?

Tell us the vehicle or equipment type, operating environment, required camera views, target alert functions and recording needs. Include platform requirements and any installation constraints. A drawing or camera-layout sketch helps our team propose the hardware combination and integration scope.
